Apartment car parks are amongst the most consistently problematic areas for body corporates when it comes to security. They are enclosed, often poorly lit, accessed by a large number of residents and visitors, and difficult to monitor without dedicated infrastructure. When vandals began targeting vehicles and property in this Hawthorn apartment car park, the body corporate had seen enough. They needed a proper commercial-grade solution that would deter future incidents, capture clear footage if something did occur, and give residents confidence that the shared space was being actively monitored.

BPoint specified and installed Provision ISR 4 megapixel IP cameras throughout the property, a combination of bullet cameras positioned to cover the key zones of the car park, entry and exit points, and the building exterior. The choice of bullet cameras for this environment is deliberate. Their form factor is visually prominent, which serves a deterrence function in itself, and their long-range capability makes them effective across the extended sightlines of a car park floor. At 4 megapixels, the image resolution is more than sufficient to capture number plates, identify individuals, and document vehicle or property damage in usable detail.

The night vision performance of these cameras is a particular asset in this context. Underground and semi-enclosed car parks are challenging lighting environments at the best of times, and after hours the conditions can be quite poor. The Provision ISR cameras handle low-light conditions well, maintaining clear and detailed footage throughout the night rather than producing the washed-out or grainy imagery that lower-grade cameras deliver in the dark. The night vision footage visible in the installation photos demonstrates this clearly: the car park is well-covered and the image quality holds up.

The motorised lens capability of the selected cameras adds further flexibility. Motorised zoom allows the field of view to be adjusted remotely after installation, which is useful in a body corporate setting where coverage requirements may shift over time or where initial positioning needs fine-tuning once the system is live.

For a body corporate, investing in a quality CCTV system also has practical implications beyond security. Clear footage of a vandalism incident provides the evidence needed to support a police report or insurance claim, which can make a significant difference to the outcome for affected residents. A visible, professional camera installation also signals to potential offenders that the property is monitored, which reduces the likelihood of the car park being targeted in the first place.

The installation was completed across all levels and access points of the building, with cabling managed neatly throughout and the system commissioned and tested before handover to the body corporate manager.
