Projects of this scale do not get delivered without a proper methodology. Before a single cable was run, the BPoint team mapped the facility thoroughly, identifying the critical coverage zones: the loading docks, the warehouse floor, the aisle intersections, the entry and exit points, and the areas where staff and heavy machinery operate in close proximity. In a working factory environment, camera placement has to account for racking heights, aisle widths, lighting conditions, and the movement patterns of the equipment operating in the space. Getting it wrong means blind spots. Getting it right means the system actually does its job.
The camera specification for this installation is the Provision ISR 8 megapixel motorised varifocal bullet camera, and it is the right tool for a facility of this size. The varifocal motorised lens is the key feature here. In a warehouse with 60-metre aisles and floor-to-ceiling stock, a fixed lens camera simply cannot deliver the depth of field required to see clearly from one end of an aisle to the other. The motorised varifocal lens can be adjusted remotely to optimise focus and zoom for each specific camera position, meaning every one of the 68 cameras is dialled in precisely for its location rather than set to a one-size-fits-all focal length. At 8 megapixels, the resulting footage is sharp and detailed at distance, which is essential for identifying individuals, reading equipment ID numbers, or documenting an incident anywhere on the floor.
OHS compliance was a central driver of this installation. With over 60 staff working alongside forklifts, pickers, and heavy trucks in a busy logistics environment, management has both a legal obligation and a genuine duty of care to monitor safety standards continuously. A comprehensive camera system supports that obligation directly, providing a real-time overview of the floor and a documented record that can be reviewed if an incident occurs. It also creates accountability across the workforce, which has a measurable effect on how safely people operate around heavy machinery.
Staff productivity monitoring across the warehouse floor was the other key operational requirement. In a facility of this size and complexity, management cannot be physically present everywhere.
